Excited about auditioning for one of our upcoming shows? Here are some tips …
There will be 3 parts to the audition:
Part 1: Group dance audition
All auditionees will be taught a short sequence to be performed in small groups. The Audition Panel will be looking for dance style and technique, alongside confidence, attitude, and performance ability. No preparation required.
Part 2: Drama workshop
A teacher-led workshop to assess confidence, attitude, characterisation, and performance skills. No preparation required.
Part 3: Individual auditions
Each auditionee must individually present a short monologue/poem and song excerpt to the audition panel. Prior preparation required. If auditionees do not come with prepared pieces, the panel will be unable to offer a place to the auditionee.
- Be prepared. Ensure you have practised a monologue (short speech) or poem AND song, and are ready to present these at the audition. Without these you will not be offered a place in the production
- Dress appropriately. A black T-shirt and leggings is perfect, or something similar that is plain, comfortable, and allows you to move easily
- Do your best. Even professionals find auditions nerve-racking, so be confident, positive, and professional. The panel is looking for potential, not the finished product
- Have fun! Auditions are a great opportunity to make new friends, learn from others, and build your confidence. Good luck!
